Description

Flysurfer FlyDoorThe 2010 FlyDoor M, L and XL are based on the very successful 2009 models which were loved by customers and got rave reviews all over the world for their light wind and upwind performance. For 2010 we were able to further increase their light wind potential, but eliminated the spray and improve the riding comfort by adding a bit more flex and rocker to the FlyDoor M, L and XL. The tips of the FlyDoor M and L have become a bit narrower and more squared, which gives the boards more control in choppy conditions and improves their pop for wakestyle tricks. The Flydoor XL is further refined with an optimized scoop-rocker line and just as the other FlyDoors, trimmed down in weight.

Flex/Scoop-Rocker:
We have developed and use a board “flex-under-load machine”. This machine is used to measure the scoop/rocker line in 3 Dimensions across the entire board. One of the main goals was to eliminate spray and to add comfort, without losing the light wind performance and pop. The Scoop-Rocker line of the Flydoor automatically adjusts itself to under or overpowered conditions, extending the effective range of the board.

Asymmetric Shape:
The 2010 FlyDoor M,L and XL have a slightly thinner tip shape and an even more asymmetric shape. Thinner Tips combined with more flex increase the control in overpowered conditions a lot. The lightwind-optimized rockerline increases speed and upwind performance. The heelside outline between the Pads is negative for maximum upwind performance, even underpowered. The 2010 Flyboards are more ergonomic. Your toes have less strength, so the rounder and shorter toeside outline improves your control when riding toeside. The straighter, performance orientated heelside outline helps you ride upwind and gives you the ability to edge harder.

The Construction:

  • The combined composite core of the FlyDoor M, L and XL is made out of airex, combined with 2 stripes of light, but super durable Paulownia wood. Since we integrated this combined core material in the FlyBoards, broken boards have been a thing of the past.
  • The wood core stripes increase the breaking strength and vibration absorption. The 2nd wood core stripe is placed below the heels, as otherwise the foam would get compressed and can create a weak point.
  • The inserts are double reinforced.
  • Thin ABS rails protect the inner core against impacts and polyethylene tips increase flex in the tips.
  • We use a 3 Dimensional construction, to be able to add the flex to the sides of the tips instead of only the whole tip.
  • The grab rail on the toeside rail remains in the 2010 FlyDoor, making your board-off tricks even easier.
  • There are now only 2 different types of screws; making assembly of the board much easier.
  • The 3.5mm single concave gives the board more grip and stability. The concave runs out smoothly toward the tips. The tips and rails remain flat so the board doesn’t lose its playful character.
  • 3 different stance options: Small stance (50.4cm), Normal stance (56.2cm) and Wide stance (61.2cm). The 6” hole-pattern fits most modern wakeboard boots.

2010 Footstraps and Pads
The 2010 pads and straps is a step up from the popular 2009 system. For 2010 we integrated a pull/pull adjuster into the Footstrap system, making the adjustment of the Footstrap super easy and smooth on the fly, even when riding!

The Footstraps have become a little softer to give even more comfort and support. Plus the adjustable size range of the strap has been further increased, ensuring a perfect fit for the smallest to the biggest foot size out there. Thanks to small support blocks twisting footpads are a thing of the past. The 2010 Footpads are further refined with better grip on the toeside, higher grade finish and an even better overall shock absorption.
